William N. Hovland, MD is president of Long Term Care of Tidewater in Norfolk, Virginia, a 24- provider group that provides long term care services to patients and facilities in the Tidewater area of Virginia. He is President of Granby Internal Medicine, PC, an office and hospital practice of primary care, also in the Tidewater area. He serves as the Medical Director of the hospice program at Medi Home Health & Hospice and is the Medical Director of three other nursing homes and two assisted living facilities, also in the Tidewater area.
Dr. Hovland, a board certified geriatrician, is active in numerous professional societies including The American Medical Directors Association (AMDA), The American Geriatrics Society and The American Academy of Home Care Physicians. He serves as President of the Virginia Chapter of AMDA. In addition, Dr. Hovland was the first recipient of the Geriatrics Recognition Award from The American Geriatric Society. He is a certified medical director as well as a fellow of the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Hovland received his bachelor’s degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1970 and his medical degree and training in internal medicine from The Medical College of Virginia from 1974 to 1978.
